Private rentals/Hotels

To choose the right accommodation in Annecy you must understand one essential thing, you must not confuse Old Annecy and Old Annecy

Annecy the old is none other than the place where the first inhabitants came to settle (above the lake!) Then other small hamlets (13 to be exact) joined together and now form Annecy the old!

On the other hand, it was later that the city expanded to the edge of the lake and it is in this extension of the city that we find the old Annecy district!

You can find all the details on the Annecy tourist office website https://www.tourisme-annecy.net/difference-entre-vieil-annecy-et-annecy-le-vieux.html

You will have understood that for a dynamic vacation in the heart of the city, you should therefore favor Old Annecy for its restaurants, bars and numerous cultural activities.

For a vacation on the heights of the lake in a more peaceful setting, choose Annecy le Vieux!

The best neighborhoods

  1. The Annecy City Center District has attractive advantages such as convenient proximity to shops, restaurants and tourist attractions, thus offering dynamic urban life and easy accessibility to services. Its historic charm and picturesque architecture add a touch of character to the residential experience. However, this centrality can also bring disadvantages, including higher population density, which can lead to traffic and parking problems. Additionally, property prices and the cost of living in this area may be higher than in other outlying neighborhoods.

  2. The Roman Quarter in Annecy offers a picturesque and historic ambiance, with its cobbled streets and ancient buildings attracting tourists and locals looking for an authentic atmosphere. Its central location provides easy access to the city's main attractions and a variety of shops, restaurants and cafes.

  3. East side of Lake Annecy: The east side of the lake also offers spectacular views and a peaceful atmosphere. It is an excellent choice for those looking for a relaxing stay close to nature .

Regarding hotels, here are some recommendations:

  • Les Loges Annecy Vieille Ville: For a luxurious stay in the heart of the old town.

  • Hotel Novel Restaurant La Mamma: Ideal for families.

  • Best Western Plus Hotel Carlton Annecy: A mid-range hotel.

  • Icône Hotel – Annecy: An economical choice .

Campsites!

Camping Les Rives du Lac

This campsite offers charming mobile homes to the east of the lake to best enjoy the calm of the lake and its natural environment. The campsite extends over the Espinet peninsula within the commune of Saint Gérons. It has a swimming pool to cool off in summer.

You will benefit from the water sports center on site. Activities for children are organized in season.

The little extra of the campsite is that it is located around twenty minutes from canyoning activities while avoiding the slowdown in Annecy.

Wild campsites

Lake Peyre

In summer, Lake Peyre offers a breathtaking view of Mont-Blanc and the Aravis. From the Col de la Colombière, allow a 45-minute walk to reach the lake, with a difference in altitude of 300 meters. The climb, although rocky and steep, does not present any major difficulty. Be careful, however, because chamois can be seen on the scree at the end of the day.

Once at the lake, several spaces allow you to bivouac. The lake water is drinkable, but it is recommended to filter it. Beware of flocks of sheep and goats accompanied by sheepdogs in the area, which can be aggressive.

On the way back down, a visit to the local farm offers the opportunity to purchase artisanal cheese or woolen clothing.

There are other breathtaking bivouac locations around the lake. Go check out the site https://blog.snowleader.com/notre-top-spots-bivouacs-autour-dannecy/ !

Thanks to them for going to find these magnificent bivouac places!

VanLife!

Annecy and its surroundings are just what you need for a holiday in a campervan!

It is possible to rent a converted van directly upon arriving in Annecy to start your road trip in Haute Savoie.

"THE VENICE OF THE ALPS

A tourist destination in winter as in summer, Annecy has managed to retain the historic charm of its old town, helped by its lake surrounded by the majestic mountains that surround it.

From walks at altitude to activities on the lake, in Annecy there is no shortage of leisure activities, whether for a vacation or a weekend. Athletes and nature enthusiasts will certainly prefer a hike to reach the Semnoz plateau, while more urban dwellers will opt for a bike ride on the greenway, before stopping at a restaurant near the Palais de l'île."

You can find all the information necessary for renting your campervan on the website https://www.alpinvan.fr/fr/
